Fourteen modern villas set in the hillside above the town of Altea. Generous space, private rooftop pool. These are the Infinity Villas, the currently completed foreign project of the Infinity Estate development group. The architect Miroslav Gebas was at its birth. "When we were looking for a project in Spain, we didn't have a specific location or type of project. Here we were enchanted," he says.
So what charmed you here?
What we like most is the Costa Blanca area itself and the town of Altea and the surrounding area. There are great amenities, very good transport links, the town has history, there's a nice sea. In short, all the parameters that one expects from this type of housing. The Costa Blanca is, in my opinion, the second best part of the Spanish coast after the Costa del Sol around Málaga.
Altea Hills is also famous among golfers...
Yes, apart from the great location, there is a huge range of activities and amenities. As well as golf, there's a well-equipped marina, water sports facilities... at the same time, great towns with sports facilities and a focus on developing young talent - like equestrian or tennis academies.
So ideal for families with children?
Yes, I believe this will be one of the typical new owners of our villas. A family that wants their peace of mind doesn't necessarily need to be at the beach every day, but they can drive there in a few minutes. The location is ideal for people with an active lifestyle. They can choose every day whether to go swimming in the sea, walk in the mountains or go cycling. But at the same time, those who prefer a very quiet lifestyle and privacy will also find peace here. That's where Infinity Villas excels.
What about transport accessibility?
Altea is about halfway between Valencia and Alicante, so you can get here by air from all over Europe at very good prices. This makes it easy to travel between the Czech Republic and Spain more often.
Are Infinity Villas designed as "summer living"?
The whole project is set in a vibrant neighbourhood where people live all year round. This is another plus, it is not a mono-functional urban unit. There are hundreds of people from all over Europe who live here permanently. Spaniards, of course, but also English or Norwegians. When we chose the site, we had this year-round use in mind.
In what way?
The orientation of the villas, for example. We're not primarily oriented east to the sea, which we can see from the terraces of the villas. But otherwise, the villas are west-facing, with views of the mountains. It is this orientation that gives an advantage in winter, when the sun helps to warm the house and it is light for longer. And at the same time it is protected from the wind from the sea.
So you see that as an advantage?
For us, definitely. It's important to say one more thing. While elsewhere the Spanish coastline is deserted or the inland is built up with industry, here there really is a beautiful green and rugged landscape with pine groves rising up from the sea.
How is the whole Infinity Villas complex designed?
We make the most of what the local regulations say. By allowing terraced villas to be built here, the whole complex forms a separate zone under one gate, but at the same time provides a lot of privacy. The materials and roofs used are also based on the regulations - the render must be white, the cladding stone, and the maximum is two storeys.
The interior can be designed by each client?
We are open to that. We did one model villa, and the design was inspired by the Mediterranean style. In terms of materials, we stick to a certain standard of ours that combines maximum quality, is trendy and at the same time achievable. But of course we will meet the client's needs, there is no upper limit (laughs). In any case, we expect to match the interior with the client's preferences - it will be up to the client whether he prefers a modern style or a more natural one - with squeegees or rounded corners.
Who builds the villas? Is the quality guaranteed?
The contractor is a local company, but we are almost constantly on site and we monitor the quality. It has to be said that in Spain there are much tougher consumer protection laws in the construction industry. Enforcement is simple and the building authority has the tools to help the client. The second factor is that the climate in Spain is not as destructive to construction as it is here. To put it simply - houses here are in the same condition after ten years as they are after two winters in the Czech Republic.
If I choose Infinity Villas, which summer will I live there?
Definitely the next one! By the end of September 2024 we will have the model villa completed, by the end of November the top tier of villas will be finished on the outside, then the lower ones will follow. The interiors will then be finished according to the wishes of each client and we expect to be able to do this within four months of signing the contract. So any of our clients can spend the spring of 2025 on the Costa Blanca.
How complicated is the process of buying a property in Spain? And will there be a management company on site?
Buying a property in Spain has some specifics, but we will help the client through them. For our customers from the Czech Republic, we think it is a great advantage that we are their partner, that they are not dealing with a Spanish developer. After completion, we count on providing the management of the site, cleaning the common areas or maintaining the pools. Of course, it is also possible to provide management of individual villas at the request of a particular customer.
